Located within Alma Doepel Reserve on George Street in Mylestom, the Alma Doepel Reserve Boat Ramp provides convenient access to the beautiful Bellinger River, with a direct route to the open ocean for those heading further afield. The site features a small, single-lane concrete ramp that is well suited to smaller boats, kayaks, and personal watercraft, making it a popular launching point for a day on the water.
The ramp is known for its quick and easy access, and the surrounding riverbanks offer plenty of shaded spots to set up for the day. Whether you're launching a boat or a jet ski, there's ample room to explore the calm stretches of the Bellinger River while enjoying the peaceful natural surroundings.
One of the standout attractions of the reserve is the Mylestom Tidal Pool, a favourite destination for families and swimmers of all ages. The netted swimming area provides a safe place to cool off, while the raised boardwalk with ladder access makes getting in and out of the water easy. The sandy bottom, large shade trees, and calm conditions create an inviting environment, especially for younger children, while older kids often enjoy jumping into the water from the boardwalk.
The reserve itself is well equipped for a relaxing day outdoors, offering a wide space for vehicle and trailer parking, picnic areas, BBQ facilities, a large fenced playground, clean public amenities, and plenty of seating. A nearby café across the road serves coffee, light meals, and fish and chips, making it easy to grab a bite before or after your time on the water.
Following significant damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025 and the NSW East Coast Severe Weather event in May 2025, the Mylestom Tidal Pool and surrounding reserve underwent important upgrades. Improvements to the tidal pool, boardwalk, and sections of Alma Doepel Reserve have been completed to strengthen the area against future flood events while preserving its long-term safety, functionality, and appeal for the community.
