Arthur River Boat Ramp

The Arthur River Boat Ramp, located near the bridge in the small township of Arthur River on Tasmania’s rugged West Coast, is a single-lane concrete ramp suitable for all weather and tide conditions. It provides direct access to the Arthur River, with a wide parking area nearby. While there are no built-in amenities, a basic wooden fish cleaning station is set up beside the ramp for anglers’ use.

Just across from the ramp, Arthur River Cruises offers a memorable way to explore this remarkable part of North West Tasmania. Arthur River is regarded as one of Australia’s last truly wild rivers, flowing through the ancient Tarkine wilderness. The surrounding rainforest is home to towering myrtles, blackwoods, sassafras, laurels, celery-top pine, and giant tree ferns, creating a striking natural backdrop for both boating and photography.

Wildlife is another highlight of this region. White-bellied sea eagles often perch above the riverbanks, while azure kingfishers flash brilliant blue and orange as they dart across the water. If you’re fortunate, you may even spot a platypus in its natural habitat. The area is alive with bird calls and offers endless opportunities for nature lovers.

With its combination of a practical launch site and access to one of Tasmania’s most pristine wilderness experiences, the Arthur River Boat Ramp is more than just a place to put in a boat; it’s a gateway to exploring the wild beauty of the Tarkine coast.
