The Coomera Public Boat Ramp, located in Oxenford on the northern Gold Coast, is a well-designed, split double ramp offering direct access to the Coomera River. Its wide layout makes it possible to launch up to three boats at once, with traffic flowing one way through the ramp area for smoother operations.

This ramp provides a good launch point to explore the northern section of the Coomera River. However, those heading upstream should be mindful of shallow areas and shoals. It’s a suitable ramp for all kinds of vessels such as boats, jet skis, and kayaks alike.

While the ramp itself is functional and easy to use across all tide levels, it does lack some finer touches. For example, there’s only a gravelly beach area for pulling up boats, which can be less than ideal. A central floating pontoon would be a valuable addition here, although there is a jetty a few steps from the ramp.

Boaters should also take care, as the area around the ramp includes crushed rock. Best to avoid beaching jet skis and anchoring is recommended. Shared access with other water sports users means extra caution is needed when navigating traffic near the ramp.

The car park has ample space for cars and trailers, even on busier days. The surrounding area includes a man-made lake used for sailing lessons, and a nearby boathouse café and restaurant adds a convenient place to grab a bite or a coffee. Fishing in the immediate area is generally not very productive due to heavy traffic and overfishing.

Beyond boating, the adjacent lakeside path offers a 4 km loop popular with walkers, runners, and cyclists. It features fitness stations, picnic spots, playgrounds, and even an off-leash dog park. There are also dedicated lanes for kayaks and rowing. It’s a friendly and welcoming space with a relaxed community vibe.

One thing to keep in mind before visiting this area: shade is limited. There are no covered picnic areas or large trees, so if you're planning to stay for a while, it’s a good idea to bring your own sun protection.
