The Fearnley Street Boat Ramp, also known as the Sugar Terminal Boat Ramp, is tucked away on Tinigira Street in Portsmith, and it’s a solid spot if you’re looking to hit the water.
It’s a four-lane concrete ramp that makes it super easy to launch small to medium boats even at low tide. High tide? No worries—pretty much any boat can get in without a hitch. If you time it right, you can even catch some bait around the little creek by the ramp, and sometimes right on the ramp itself.
The ramp’s in good shape, and there’s a pontoon pier where you can tie up your boat. Just keep an eye out for crocs because they’re definitely around. Despite the tides, it’s a pretty decent fishing spot too. Launching here is no drama at all... unless you count getting absolutely attacked by insects.
There’s heaps of parking for cars, trailers, and vehicles, but weekends can get hectic, so it fills up fast. As for the amenities, they do have wash-down facilities, but honestly, they could use a bit of love.
