Fortescue Bay Boat Ramp

The Fortescue Bay Boat Ramp, set within the stunning Tasman National Park, offers a well-built single-lane concrete ramp with a landing stage and a dedicated kayak and canoe launch area. While the ramp is exposed to easterly weather and can be limited at low tide, it’s spacious, easy to reverse into, and considered one of the better ramps in the region.

Parking is available just a few metres from the ramp, though the carpark is shared with hikers visiting the area so that it can fill quickly during busy periods. Facilities are good, with toilets on site, picnic areas, and BBQs close by. Campers will find the setting appealing, with plenty of space for tents and campervans, although it’s worth noting there are no powered sites. If you’re planning a stay, bringing your own firewood is recommended.

For those looking to settle in for a few days, the Fortescue Bay Camping Ground is a favourite spot. It provides easy access to the beach, the Three Capes Walk, and the Tasman Coastal Walk. Facilities include showers, potable water, toilets, picnic shelters, and caravan parking. The site is about a 15-minute drive from the highway along a dirt road, but the effort is well worth it for the natural beauty and convenience on offer.

Whether you’re here to launch a boat, paddle along the bay, or take on one of Tasmania’s most iconic walks, Fortescue Bay is a place that combines practical facilities with the wild charm of Tasman National Park.
