Tucked away at the end of Kunde Street in Beachmere, the Kunde Street Boat Ramp offers a simple, no-frills access point into Moreton Bay. The single-lane concrete ramp provides a basic launch option, though those needing more space or better facilities will find the larger Beachmere Boat Ramp just nearby.
Conditions play a big role in usability here. At high tide, particularly with a light westerly breeze and calm waters, launching can be manageable. However, at low tide, the ramp becomes far less practical, with around 200 metres of sand to navigate due to a forming sandbar. It’s very much a tidal ramp, best suited for use from half tide through to full tide.
Facilities are minimal. There’s no jetty or pontoon, and parking is informal, often limited to the roadside. In many ways, it feels closer to a beach launch than a traditional boat ramp.
Despite its simplicity, the area has a relaxed charm. It’s a pleasant spot for a walk or a quiet break, with benches along the shoreline and a light post that provides some illumination after dark. While amenities are limited, it’s still a nice place to unwind, enjoy a casual lunch, or take in the coastal atmosphere.
