The Marks Point Boat Ramp is a public launch spot located in the lakeside suburb of Marks Point, offering access to Village Bay and broader Lake Macquarie. Nestled within a residential area, it provides a convenient entry point for recreational boating, fishing, and water-based activities near the entrance to the Swansea Channel.
The ramp itself is a single-lane concrete structure, best suited for small to medium-sized boats. However, it’s worth noting that the ramp is in poor condition and lacks a jetty or pontoon for easy mooring or boarding. Users should take extra care when launching or retrieving, particularly at low tide, as the water can be extremely shallow, less than a metre deep for over 300 metres offshore.
While the location is practical for reaching both the lake and the Pacific Ocean, facilities are minimal. On-site, you’ll find only a few basic amenities: a picnic table, benches, and rubbish bins. There are no toilets or dedicated services available.
Parking is limited close to the ramp, and visitors may need to park along the access road. It's a good idea to plan ahead, bring any supplies you may need, and check tide and weather conditions before heading out.
