The boat ramp at Apex Park, located on the Dawson River near Moura Weir, features a small single-lane concrete ramp that provides convenient access to the river for boating, fishing and kayaking.
Situated around 6 to 10 kilometres from the town of Moura, Apex Park (sometimes referred to as Rotary Park) is a peaceful riverside rest area and popular camping spot with plenty of facilities.
The campground offers plenty of space for larger vehicles and caravans, although the ground can become difficult to navigate after rain. Being close to the road also means some traffic noise can be heard, but otherwise the location is tranquil.
Visitors can make use of toilets, hot showers (coin-operated system that costs $1 for a short shower), electric barbecues, a wood-fired barbecue, fire pits, picnic tables, undercover seating, rubbish bins and a children's playground. The area also has plenty of shaded spaces, making it a comfortable place to stop for a break or stay for a few nights.
The river is a major attraction, particularly for fishing enthusiasts. The nearby weir creates a productive fishing environment, with the river known for stocked yellowbelly as well as a healthy natural population of Saratoga. Visitors can also enjoy boating and kayaking, with plenty of water to explore. The peaceful surroundings and occasional fish jumping from the water make it an enjoyable spot to relax and take in the scenery.
The park is also pet-friendly, although dogs should be kept on a leash. The surrounding bushland is home to plenty of birdlife, and visitors often mention hearing birdsong and spotting friendly kookaburras around the campground.
Apex Park operates as a donation-based camping area, and visitors are encouraged to contribute to help maintain the facilities.
With its riverside setting, fishing opportunities, boat ramp, shaded camping areas and useful amenities, Apex Park is a worthwhile stop for anyone looking to relax, spend time outdoors or enjoy a few days by the Dawson River. Visitors are encouraged to leave a donation and help support this community facility for future travellers.
