The Nhulunbuy Community Boat Ramp is a great little launch spot just 12km from town, right next to the Gove Boat Club. It’s a sealed, single-lane ramp that's in solid condition and works best from mid-tide and up. Thanks to its position, it's nicely sheltered from the swell, making launching and retrieving a breeze.
There's a small jetty right by the ramp that’s handy for tying up your boat while you sort things out. Plus, the large parking area nearby has plenty of space for both cars and trailers, so you won't be doing laps looking for a spot.
This is a prime location if you're keen on fishing, as there’s a variety of species in the area to keep things interesting. And if you didn’t bring your own boat, no worries! There’s a local fishing charter operating out of here that’s perfect for visitors looking to get out on the water.
After a day out, you can head over to the Gove Boat Club for a tasty bite and a cold drink. The ambiance here is relaxed, with most of the seating outdoors overlooking the water. There’s usually a refreshing breeze, a play area for the kids, and sometimes even live music to round off your day.
Just a heads-up: you’ll need a Visitor Access Permit from Dhimurru Aboriginal Corporation before you visit, so be sure to sort that out ahead of time.
