The Nudgee Beach Reserve Boat Ramp, located at Nudgee Beach, features a single-lane concrete ramp that provides access to the waters of Moreton Bay. This ramp is best suited to small craft and is generally only usable around two hours either side of high tide. At low tide, the extensive mudflats mean there’s little to no water for launching, with depths at high tide still quite shallow, around half a metre at most. Canoes and kayaks can be launched at any time by walking out across the flats, although the dedicated ramp is a far more practical option. For larger boats, a better ramp can be found about two kilometres back along Nudgee Road.

While launching opportunities are limited, the area itself is a well-equipped and popular recreational space. Parking spaces are plentiful, and the reserve offers toilets, multiple covered picnic shelters, public BBQs, children’s playgrounds, walking tracks through the mangroves, and a bird-watching platform. The concrete paths are wheelchair- and pram-friendly, leading to key areas of the park before opening out onto the beach and grassed spaces.

The shallow water makes this a safe and enjoyable spot for children to swim, particularly at high tide, while low tide reveals wide sandy and muddy areas that are interesting to explore, with crabs, sea snails, and birdlife often on display. Fishing is popular here, although some prefer nearby Nudgee Wharf for better results.

With large open lawns, shaded seating, boardwalks through the wetlands, and plenty of space for picnics or casual gatherings, Nudgee Beach Reserve is well-suited to families. It’s dog-friendly (on leash), peaceful, and well-maintained, with cooling sea breezes and good views across the mangroves and bay. While the beach itself is small and largely disappears at high tide, it remains a pleasant place to relax after a walk through the wetlands or to spend a quiet day outdoors.
