The Raymond Terrace Boat Ramp, located beside the Fitzgerald Bridge on the Williams River, offers a dual-lane concrete ramp with all-tide access. The ramp is generally a good length and makes launching and retrieving straightforward in most conditions, making it a practical option for local boaters passing through the area.
While the ramp is serviceable and usually easy to use, the lack of a pontoon or wharf can make boat handling a little more challenging, particularly in windy conditions. There’s also only a small section of muddy shoreline beside the ramp, which disappears at high tide.
Parking is a strong point, with a large car park offering plenty of space for vehicles and trailers. A freshwater tap is available on the eastern side of the bridge for washdown and flushing, and a fish-cleaning table is also provided.
Despite its challenges, the ramp remains a valuable facility, as there are limited alternatives nearby and the location itself is convenient.
Beyond boating, the surrounding park area makes this a pleasant place to stop and relax. Although the area can become muddy after heavy rain or flooding, but once conditions dry out, it’s a spacious and family-friendly spot. Families and visitors will appreciate the open space, playground, public toilets, and picnic tables and benches, while anglers can fish from the bank or on the water; eel fishing in particular is popular here. The giant fish sculpture nearby is a fun landmark and a hit with kids.
Whether you’re launching a boat, enjoying a riverside barbecue, or simply taking a short break to unwind, the Raymond Terrace Boat Ramp offers a calm and practical setting with solid basic facilities.
