Sandy Hook Boat Ramp

The Sandy Hook Boat Ramp, located on Sandy Hook Road in the rural area of Branyan within the Bundaberg region, is the only ramp available to the public in the area. It features a dual-lane concrete ramp that provides direct access to the Burnett River. While it’s an older facility, it’s well-suited for boats requiring deeper water, thanks to its steeper incline, making it a better option than the two smaller ramps located just 50 metres along the shore.

It’s a convenient launch point for small boats, but equally a peaceful spot to simply unwind by the river. Parking is straightforward, and amenities include public toilets, a barbecue area, and access to the freshwater end of the Burnett River. The location also offers a pleasant riverside walk.

Wildlife enthusiasts will enjoy spotting local birdlife and other creatures along the banks, while swimmers can take advantage of the inviting water; just be mindful of boat traffic. The river here tends to be silty, but the surrounding views make it a scenic and relaxing place to spend the day.

A Ski Club and a power boat club are located near the ramp, with their own boat launching facilities.
