Summercloud Bay sits at the southern end of Booderee National Park, about 200km south of Sydney, and it’s honestly a little slice of paradise. The beaches here are stunning — think scalloped coves framed by natural rock formations and crystal-clear water that just invite you in. If you prefer calm, gentle water over crashing waves, you’re in luck. It’s an ideal spot for a peaceful dip or just floating the day away.
The bay has a boat ramp that gives you easy access to the Tasman Sea, plus handy facilities like a picnic area and toilets nearby. The shoreline has a gentle slope with soft sand, which makes getting in and out of the water super easy, even at low tide.
The beach itself is wide, clean, and great for relaxing or fishing. It’s also a top surfing spot... and some even say one of the best on the south coast and maybe in the whole country.
There’s vehicle access to the eastern end of the bay, and you’ll find a large car park there, which makes things super convenient whether you’re hauling a boat or just spending the day by the water.
The views all around are absolutely breathtaking, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot dolphins or whales swimming by.
That said, it’s important to remember this area is part of traditionally owned Aboriginal land within a national park. All boaters must grab a valid day pass or annual pass to Booderee National Park before using the boat ramp. And while you're enjoying this special place, do your part by showing respect — don’t move or take anything, and always take your rubbish with you.
Summercloud Bay really is one of those magical spots where everything feels just right: the beach, the water, the scenery, and the wildlife all make it an unforgettable place to visit.
