The Tallawood Road Public Boat Ramp, located in Coomera on the Gold Coast, offers a single-lane concrete ramp with a floating pontoon for easy loading and unloading. It provides direct access to the Coomera River, just across from Sanctuary Cove, making it a convenient launch spot for small boats, jet skis, and other personal watercraft. It also serves as a local access point to the Kilkie ferry for those heading over to Sanctuary Cove.
Currents tend to run east/downriver when loading onto trailers, so some caution is advised. Speed is strictly limited to 6–9 knots in this area and the waterway is regularly patrolled by local authorities.
The pontoon is practical for loading passengers and gear, although it can become crowded in the afternoons, particularly with anglers using it for fishing.
There is a small beach area on the opposite side of the pier, although it can be muddy at low tide and features a concrete drain at high tide, which is worth watching out for.
Parking is quite limited, with only a handful of spaces available. It's best suited to smaller boats or jet skis, as turning space for larger trailers is minimal. Only two bays are designated for trailers up to 6 metres, with the rest being informal street-side parking.
Despite the limited parking, it’s a peaceful and well-maintained spot, especially in the early mornings or evenings. The nearby park includes a playground, public toilets, BBQ facilities, and a shaded picnic table, making it suitable for families. The area is dog-friendly too, provided pets are kept on a leash.
The ramp is a local favourite, and it’s not uncommon for community members to call out poor behaviour online, so courtesy is encouraged.
Overall, Tallawood Road Ramp is a quiet, functional local boat ramp with great river access and a relaxed atmosphere. Just plan ahead if you’re bringing a trailer, especially on weekends.
