Update as of April 14, 2026:
Work is set to begin on the 14th of April, 2026, on the Tooradin boat ramp upgrade, with the facility closed for the duration of the project.
The planned improvements will see the existing three-lane ramp replaced with a longer, upgraded ramp featuring a new grooved surface for better traction. Boaters can also expect new floating pontoons for easier tie-ups, along with enhancements to the current single-lane car park access road to ease congestion and improve overall traffic flow.
Once complete, the upgrade will provide a smoother and more efficient launching experience for those heading out onto Western Port, with works scheduled to wrap up ahead of the 2026 spring snapper season.
In the meantime, nearby alternatives include Blind Bight (7km by car), Cannon’s Creek (9km), and Warneet (10km). The Lang Lang boat ramp, which has been recently renovated, is also available, located around 26km away.

The Tooradin boat ramp, located in the Tooradin Foreshore Reserve, serves as a vital component of the Western Port boat ramp network, featuring a
three-lane concrete ramp alongside two floating pontoons, fish cleaning
facilities, parking, and restroom amenities.
Predominantly utilised
by recreational fishers, the ramp is also used by recreational boaters. Boaters
are consistently using the ramp throughout the year, with a noticeable increase
during the spring to early autumn months. The facility is designed to accommodate
small to medium vessels, with the capability to launch boats up to 8 metres in
length. However, it's advisable to be aware of tide conditions, as the ramp can
become shallow during low tide.
The condition of the
ramp is in need of improvement, and upgrades are scheduled to commence in 2025.
These upgrades will involve a comprehensive renewal of the existing three-lane
ramp, as well as a replacement and extension of the pontoons to facilitate
additional vessel berthing and enhance launch and retrieval efficiency.
To further enhance
safety and traffic flow, the single-lane entrance to the facility will be
widened to support dual lanes. While the ramp will continue to operate as a
three-lane facility, the lanes will be extended to provide a more effective
launch and retrieval window. The replacement and elongation of the pontoons
will also support improved on-water berthing capabilities.
The ramp is complemented by a fishing jetty that’s a favourite among land-based anglers, offering an easy and accessible spot to cast a line. Nearby, two fish cleaning stations make it convenient to prepare your catch before heading home.
There’s also ample parking available, with plenty of space for both cars and trailers, making launching and retrieving a hassle-free experience.
In addition to its
functional amenities, the ramp area offers a delightful spot to relax and enjoy
picturesque sunsets, with wooden bench seating, picnic tables, toilets, showers, drinking water fountain, and a playground available in the Reserve nearby. It is also a wonderful place for dog walking and overnight camping.
