Located at the end of Bay Road beside the Venus Bay Jetty, the Venus Bay Boat Ramp provides access to the sheltered waters of the bay and is a popular launching point for fishing and recreational boating. Positioned just west of the jetty, the facility features a single-lane ramp set directly on the beach, with most vessels launching from the sandy shoreline east of the jetty.

Set within the centre of town, Venus Bay is known for its impressive 500-metre sand foreland that stretches toward the deep tidal channel.

Although the beach conditions are generally calm due to its sheltered bay location, launching can sometimes be challenging depending on tides and beach conditions. Strong tidal currents can occur near the jetty and channel, so boaters and swimmers should exercise caution. Tide levels play a major role in launching conditions, as many areas around Venus Bay become quite shallow during low tide.

Access roads are generally good, with bitumen or well-maintained gravel roads leading to the site, and parking is usually adequate even during busier periods. However, driving your vehicle on the beach is considered more suitable for experienced boaters, particularly when using 2WD vehicles on the sand.

Venus Bay itself is a well-loved holiday and fishing destination, offering scenic coastal views, rocky shorelines, and calm waters ideal for families and anglers alike. The curved jetty is one of the standout features of the area, attracting visitors with its unique design, clear water, and regular gatherings of pelicans and seabirds. It’s a great place for a stroll, relaxing with the family, or spending a few hours fishing.

Fishing opportunities are plentiful throughout the bay and jetty area, with catches including King George Whiting, Tommy Ruff, Salmon, Mullet, Flathead, Squid, Garfish, Snook, Sweep, Trevally, and Flounder. Sand crabs are also commonly found during the right season. A fish cleaning station is available near the top of the car park, often surrounded by waiting pelicans and seagulls hoping for scraps.

For those looking to spend the day or stay longer, the area is well equipped with facilities, including a caravan park, accommodation, public toilets, BBQ areas, playgrounds, cafes, takeaway shops, fuel, fishing supplies, and a general store. There’s also a secluded beach area to the right of the jetty that can be accessed by 4WD, offering a quieter spot to relax, fish, or swim in the crystal-clear water.

Overall, Venus Bay combines relaxed coastal charm with practical boating access, making it a favourite destination for fishing trips, family outings, and laid-back weekends by the water.
