Located along Wonboyn Road at Hemingway Creek, the Wonboyn Lake Boat Ramp provides easy access to one of the South Coast’s most scenic and well-regarded fishing destinations.

The facility features a single-lane concrete ramp with a pontoon for convenient boat mooring, along with nearby wooden jetties that are popular for both docking and fishing.

There’s plenty of parking available at the main boat ramp car park, with public toilets located just across from the entrance. Visitors are also likely to spot inquisitive pelicans and a variety of local birdlife around the lake, adding to the relaxed atmosphere of the area.

Set just over the Victorian border and around 30km south of Eden, Wonboyn is widely regarded as one of the region’s standout fishing spots.

The small fishing village of Wonboyn is surrounded by pristine forests, untouched beaches, and peaceful natural landscapes, making it an ideal getaway for those looking to slow down and enjoy the outdoors.

The lake itself has built a strong reputation for exceptional estuary, beach, and land-based fishing. The lake winds for around 10 kilometres before meeting the ocean at Disaster Bay through a narrow channel.

Anglers regularly target large flathead, along with bream, luderick, whiting, jewfish, trevally, and tailor. Beach fishing is also popular, with salmon, tailor, bream, and whiting commonly caught from the shoreline. The lake’s backwaters are dotted with oyster leases, adding another layer to the area’s coastal charm.

It’s a fantastic destination not only for boating and fishing, but also for swimming, hiking, birdwatching, and exploring the surrounding wilderness.

Accommodation options along the lake nearby include caravan parks, cabins, and camping facilities, although visitors should note that the general store is no longer operating.
