Yanakie Boat Ramp

The Yanakie Boat Ramp, tucked away on Foley Road in the small coastal township of Yanakie, provides a simple single-lane concrete ramp giving access to Corner Inlet and Port Albert. It’s a shallow ramp, so launching and retrieving is recommended only at high tide, and it isn’t suited for boats over six metres. With no jetty and a flat, sandy approach, it’s best to plan carefully around the tide.

The ramp is equipped with a lamp post for illumination during dim conditions and is adjacent to a spacious parking area, which is generally safe for leaving vehicles while out on the water. Basic amenities, including toilets and a picnic area, are available nearby, and a general store is within easy reach.

The setting itself is a highlight: quiet, scenic, and framed by views across to Wilsons Promontory National Park. The area is known for its birdlife and peaceful beach, making it just as appealing for a picnic or a quiet stroll as it is for launching a boat. The nearby caravan park is popular with visitors, praised for its friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff.

For those who enjoy exploring on foot, there’s also a hiking loop that begins near the car park. The track offers a gentle walk through low shrub canopy, eventually opening near Duck Point with views across the water. Along the way, walkers can spot seabirds and enjoy the natural calm of the inlet.

Simple but well-positioned, the Yanakie Boat Ramp offers a straightforward launch option alongside the charm of a tranquil coastal spot.
