The Alyangula Boat Ramp, tucked near Rowell Highway beside the GEMCO Port Sample Tower, is a top spot to launch your boat and enjoy the water. It’s a wide two-lane concrete ramp, made even better by the surrounding breakwater wall that keeps things calm and protected from ocean swells and windy surprises.
On land, there’s plenty to enjoy too, two nearby wharfs are perfect for land-based fishing (when permitted), and there are electric BBQs and shaded areas where you can relax while waiting for your crew or cleaning up after a day on the water. The spacious car park has room for cars and trailers, plus handy boat wash-down facilities. Whether you're heading out at sunrise or casting a line at night, it's a solid place for a good fishing session.
That said, there’s an important update as of October 2024: with increased activity around the port area, the public is being asked to steer clear of the port unless you're actively using the boat ramp. That means no land-based fishing in the port area itself. If you’re boating, be mindful of the restricted zones marked by buoys near the wharf and stick to the 5-knot speed limit until you're at least 100 meters clear of any structures.
As the weather warms up and more boats hit the water, a quick reminder when parking, try to stay close to the edge of the boat ramp road to allow space for others to park behind and help everyone get in and out smoothly.
All in all, Alyangula Boat Ramp is a great launch point with top-notch facilities, just be sure to follow the updated rules and respect the space so everyone can enjoy it safely.
