Bellingham Boat Ramp

The Bellingham Boat Ramp, located on Albert Street in Bellingham, George Town, provides a single-lane concrete ramp with an adjoining pontoon platform that launches into the Pipers River. Directly across the river, you’ll also find the Weymouth Pipers River Boat Ramp.

This ramp is best suited for smaller boats and is tide-dependent; launching is only practical about an hour and a half either side of high tide, as the shallow water can make access difficult at other times. It’s also exposed to northerly weather, so conditions should be considered before heading out. PWC fenders are installed for added convenience.

Parking is straightforward, with a medium-sized car park offering space for cars and trailers. While there are no amenities directly at the ramp, public toilets and a bench are available just a short walk away.

The area is a pleasant spot for a day trip. At low tide, tide pools form along the shore, making it interesting to explore, while flathead are commonly found in the shallows. In summer, high tide sees the area fill with boats, and the pontoon can even double as a swimming spot when there are no boats around. However, some visitors note that sand build-up can make driving close to the ramp tricky at times.

Overall, the Bellingham Boat Ramp offers simple facilities in a peaceful riverside setting, best enjoyed when planned around the tides.
