The Belmont South Boat Ramp, located on Paley Crescent, Belmont South, provides a 2-lane concrete ramp offering access to Belmont Bay and the broader Lake Macquarie. It’s best suited for small to medium-sized vessels, with easy launch and retrieval for kayaks, tinnies, and other light watercraft. However, larger boats may find it less practical due to the shallow water and narrow channel, especially at low tide.
The water depth around the ramp remains quite shallow, approximately 80cm for several hundred metres, so care is needed when navigating, particularly during run-out tides. That said, a navigable channel runs close to the bank, allowing for cautious passage.
This is a well-used and often busy ramp with limited parking in the sealed car park nearby for vehicles and trailers. On-site amenities are family-friendly, including a fish cleaning table for anglers, public toilets around 50 metres away, a small playground, BBQ facilities, and open green space ideal for a picnic or a walk along the lakeside.
While not ideal for larger vessels, the ramp is a practical and accessible spot for casual boaters, paddlers, and families looking to enjoy the eastern side of Lake Macquarie.
