The Finucane Island Boat Ramp, located in Boodarie, is a single-lane concrete ramp with easy access and is well sheltered by surrounding beach and land. It's a popular spot for both fishing and 4WD enthusiasts, thanks to the sandy tracks nearby that lead out to the point on Finucane Island.
area offers a quiet and family-friendly environment, with a rock groyne next to the ramp that provides reliable land-based fishing opportunities. The inlet itself is scenic and peaceful, home to wildlife and surrounded by impressive views.
The boat ramp has a wide adjacent car park with plenty of space for vehicles and trailers, as well as clean public toilets and some sheltered seating areas. However, being in a remote location, there are no shops or services nearby.
Finucane Island is known for its striking sunsets, making it a pleasant place for a quiet evening walk along the beach. That said, visitors should be well-prepared with insect repellent, especially around sunrise and sunset, as midges can be a nuisance.
The northern shoreline of the island is mostly rocky, while the central section is made up of sandy stretches and is ideal for a stroll or beach fishing.
Importantly, a large crocodile was sighted near the ramp in 2018. While such sightings are rare, caution is strongly advised; avoid entering the water unnecessarily and stay alert in the area.
