The Gentilli Boat Ramp is located at the edge of Salter Point (a suburb in Perth) and out into Deep Water Point on the Canning River, nestled between Canning Bridge and Mount Henry Bridge, and out into the Swan River.
It features a wide, single-lane concrete ramp, though the surface is often covered with sand and lacks marked lanes. Despite this, it’s spacious enough to allow for the simultaneous launch of up to three boats. A 4WD vehicle is recommended for launching here due to the ramp’s surface conditions.
This is a convenient spot to access the Swan River and offers impressive views, making it something of a hidden gem. However, caution is needed when entering the area, as the bridge nearby is one-way and can have oncoming traffic from the opposite side. Parking directly on the beach is strongly discouraged as rangers frequently patrol the area and fines are strictly enforced.
The car park itself offers only limited trailer parking, so it’s best to plan accordingly, especially during peak periods.
Surrounding the ramp is a well-kept parkland area with amenities including a Dome café and playgrounds, making it an inviting place for families. Shaded picnic areas and walking paths along the beach add to the relaxed atmosphere, offering a peaceful retreat in the middle of the city. Dog walkers, picnickers, and boaters alike find plenty to enjoy in this scenic riverside setting.
