The boat ramp at Lake Tuggeranong Sea Scouts, found on Mortimer Lewis Drive in Greenway, is a great little spot that offers direct access to Lake Tuggeranong for boating and fishing. It’s also just a lovely place to spend time outdoors, whether you're grabbing a quick lunch, going for a weekend walk, or setting up a relaxed family picnic.
Sitting on the western edge of the lake, the single-lane concrete ramp is in good shape and perfect for launching small boats, kayaks, or canoes. The nearby pontoons are handy too, as anglers often use them for land-based fishing, or they serve as a docking spot for boats. The lake is home to a variety of fish, so it’s a favorite with local fishers. The water is generally calm, which makes it ideal for paddling around in a canoe or kayak, especially if you're just starting out or want a peaceful ride. Just keep in mind, swimming isn’t allowed in the lake.
There's plenty of parking available for both cars and trailers, so getting in and out is easy. Around the Scout Hall, you’ll find all the handy extras that make a day out more enjoyable, like BBQ facilities, shaded tables and chairs, public toilets, a bike park, a kids' playground, a small beach area, and grassy spots to lay out a picnic blanket or throw a ball around. It’s even a great option for hosting a function or party.
Spring is especially lovely here, with swans and their cygnets gliding across the water and plenty of greenery coming to life. The whole area has a calm, welcoming vibe, with nearby cafes serving up tasty food if you’re after a bite to eat.
Thanks to the shade and cool breezes off the lake, it feels like a bit of an oasis, a refreshing and relaxing spot that offers something for everyone.
