The Lock 6 Boat Ramp, located along the Murray River in Murtho, now features a freshly upgraded single-lane concrete ramp with a small pontoon. Officially reopened to the public in July 2024, the works also included improvements to the surrounding area, creating a more practical parking space for cars and trailers.
The upgrade, co-funded by the Renmark Paringa Council and the South Australian Boating Facility Advisory Committee, has made the ramp more accessible and user-friendly for both locals and visitors. While it provides reliable, all-weather access, it’s best suited for smaller boats.
The new facility is a welcome addition for the community, offering a simple and tidy launch point right on the Murray. However, amenities are not available on site, so it’s a good idea to come prepared, as the nearest shops and conveniences are several kilometres away.
