The Patey Drive Boat Ramp in Renmark, a charming town in South Australia’s Riverland region, offers both a dual-lane concrete ramp and a single-lane ramp for boating enthusiasts.
The dual-lane ramp features a gentle 12% grade, is in excellent condition, and meets industry standards, allowing boarding from both sides and accommodating all types of craft. The single-lane ramp, with its steeper 22% grade, is in fair condition but remains a favourite for some locals, particularly those launching or retrieving smaller boats, as the steeper angle makes the process quicker and easier. The dual-lane ramp also includes jetties on both walk-down sides, and under normal circumstances, it comfortably handles demand. However, during special events in the area, expect some wait times.
A sealed and lined carpark provides parking for cars with trailers, but spaces can be tight in summer and peak holiday periods, with overflow parking often spilling onto the roadside, sometimes leading to congestion.
Facilities include a picnic area, toilets, fresh water, and BBQs. The Lions Club BBQ area is a real highlight as it is free to use, clean, and well-kept.
