The Rowella Road Boat Ramp in Sidmouth is a pretty handy spot if you're looking to get out onto the River Tamar. It’s a dual-lane concrete ramp with a central pontoon that makes launching and retrieving your boat or jet ski a breeze. Thanks to the installed PWC fenders, both boats and jet skis can dock here without a fuss.
It’s a popular launch point for cruising and fishing trips, and even if you’re not bringing a boat, land-based anglers often try their luck casting from the edge. That said, some locals have mentioned that the pontoon can be a bit wobbly, and the fishing can be hit or miss — so manage your expectations if you’re after a big catch.
Parking for cars and trailers is a bit limited, so it’s worth arriving early if you're heading out on a busy day. On the plus side, the area has a few picnic tables and some shelters tucked under the trees, making it a nice place to relax before or after your time on the water.
Even if you're not into fishing or boating, it's a lovely place to just hang out and enjoy the scenery... and the sunsets here? Absolutely worth sticking around for.
