The Swansea Boat Ramp is located at Jubilee Beach in Swansea, right in the heart of Tasmania’s east coast. It features a dual-lane concrete ramp with an adjacent walkway, providing convenient access for launching.
While generally easy to use, the ramp is exposed to northeasterly winds, and conditions can become challenging when the breeze exceeds 20 knots, especially at low tide when wave activity is more pronounced.
Sand buildup and surge conditions can also pose a hazard, and the site would benefit from dredging and the addition of a rock wall for improved safety.
Despite these conditions, the ramp remains accessible and is surrounded by beautiful, clean beaches, making it a scenic and practical spot for boaters and anglers alike. A small, modern jetty sits nearby, which is an appealing point of interest if you’re walking along the shoreline. It includes some helpful information for recreational fishers and offers sweeping views across the coastline.
Public facilities, such as toilets, picnic areas, BBQ stations, and a children's playground, are conveniently located close by, and there’s ample space for reversing and trailer manoeuvring, with a wide trailer car park available adjacent to the ramp. There are also benches here. During busy periods, additional parking can be found at the nearby Recreation Ground behind the hotel.
The area is also well-suited for a quiet coastal stroll, particularly at sunrise or in the late afternoon, when the light across the bay is especially striking. With a peaceful atmosphere, well-kept surroundings, and charming natural details, like seasonal flowers near the ramp, Swansea’s ramp area is both functional and pleasant for a day on or near the water.
