Tewantin Boat Ramp

The Tewantin Boat Ramp, located on Doonella Street in the town of Tewantin within the Noosa Shire, features a dual-lane concrete ramp providing access to the Noosa River. From here, boaters can easily reach Lake Doonella, the North Noosa Shore, and several nearby islands, making it a well-positioned launch site for exploring the local waterways.

The ramp is suitable for kayaks and smaller vessels, though launching conditions can be challenging at times. Strong currents are common, and the shoreline beside the ramp is lined with sharp rocks and large pebbles, which can be rough on fibreglass hulls. A sand launch area would be a welcome improvement, as the current surface makes beaching difficult. For those with newer boats, extra caution is strongly advised.

Parking is somewhat limited. There are only 14 designated spots for trailers, with overflow often spilling into nearby streets, particularly during busy periods. Unfortunately, there are no dedicated accessible parking bays for boaters with disabilities, so arriving early is recommended.

Despite these drawbacks, the ramp’s location is a strong point. The area is well-serviced, with clean public toilets, a nearby water refill station, and a fish cleaning facility next to the ramp. Families will also appreciate the nearby water park, splash zone, and skate park, offering plenty to do off the water.

All in all, while the Tewantin Boat Ramp offers convenient river access and decent facilities, users should be mindful of the rocky shoreline and limited parking, especially during peak times.
