Woodman Point Boat Ramp is one of the largest and most frequently used recreational boating facilities in the Perth metropolitan area. With eight concrete lanes, finger jetties, and a floating universal access pontoon, the ramp provides excellent access to Jervois Bay, as well as popular destinations like Rottnest Island, Garden Island, and Carnac Island.
The ramp is well-suited to boaters of all experience levels and is easy to launch from, thanks to its sheltered location behind a breakwater wall—also a favoured spot for land-based fishing. The rigging and derigging area offers ample space for preparing boats both before and after use.
One consideration for visiting boaters is that some jetties lack rubber fenders or dampers, making them less forgiving on hulls. Bringing your own boat fenders is recommended to avoid potential damage while docking.
The car park is HUGE, with space for up to 420 cars and trailer combinations. Even during busier periods, access remains relatively smooth. Solar lighting installed on the ramp and throughout the car park makes evening retrieval easier and safer—ideal for those returning after a full day out on the water. Adding to the appeal, parking is free of charge.
Facilities on site include public toilets and outdoor showers. Nearby, you’ll also find a boat club, a storage facility, a chandlery store, fuel services, and a café, making it a convenient hub for boaters.
Adjacent to the ramp is a lovely and serene stretch of sandy beach, perfect for a relaxed stroll or for letting dogs run freely. The water here is typically calm and shallow, making it a safe and pleasant area for children and pets to paddle.
It’s also a scenic spot for an evening walk, especially at sunset, and pelicans are often seen in the area, adding to the charm.
